Svakome s vremena na vrijeme zatreba mali odmor od posla. Zašto bi Bog bio drugačiji? U nadi da će naći neku dobru dušu koja će ga zamijeniti, Bog silazi na Zemlju, ili točnije, u sjeveroistočni Brazil. Tamo susreće ribara i sitnoga prevaranta Taocu s kojim kreće u potragu. Uskoro im se pridružuje i Madá, djevojka koja putuje u São Paulo...
