Povzetek:
Kolonijalna Amerika 1750. godine. U gradiću Dalton´s Ferryju, uz granicu s indijanskim teritorijem, lokalnog svećenika Willa Smythea (D. Lipscomb) optuže za nemoral i preljub s navodnom vešticom Eloise Dalton (R. Stanley), te osude na smrt vešanjem. Noć prije pogubljenja Eloise svećenika na čudesan način uspije osloboditi iz zatvora, a građani iz toga zaključe da je Will blagoslovljen čovek i božji izaslanik. Slobodan napustiti grad sa svojim sljedbenicima, Smythe se sa skupinom ljudi popne na splav i zaputi niz reku prema mitskoj "obećanoj zemlji".Uz čarobnim moćima obdarenu Eloise i senzibilnu djevojku Leah (K. Crockett), na put sa Smytheom među ostalima krenu stari Calvin (W. Hare) sa suprugom Sister (F. Ryan), mladi par Margaret (K. Sherman) i Jewel Buchanan (R. Paulsen), te troje Eloiseine dece iz propalog braka s Marionom Daltonom (G. Boyd), odvažnim pionirom i lovcem. Nakon polaska Leu počnu mučiti zastrašujuće vizije.
