Povzetek:

Američki građanski rat se tek završio i Ben Šelbi traži Džonija Talona, s namerom da ga ubije. (Fort Defiance, 1951.)
Zbog Talonovog kukavičluka, samo je Šelbi iz njihove jedinice preživeo borbu. Misleći da je Talon mrtav, drugi čovek koji je u istoj bici izgubio brata, dolazi da iz osvete ubije Talonovog slepog brata.
