Pier Paolo Pasolini je potoval po Afriki, Nepalu in Bližnjem vzhodu, da je ustvaril filmsko različico zgodb iz Tisoč in ene noči. Vendar to ni pripoved o Šeherezadi ali Aladinu, pač pa se slavni režiser osredodoča na erotiko, ki jo zaznamuje zgodba mladeniča, ki skuša najti svojo ljubljeno sužnjo.
