Biografska priča o Louisu Cyr-, najjačem čovjeku s kraja 19. stoljeća. Lowell, Massachussets,kasno 19.stoljeće. Louis Cyr, francuski Kanađanin radi u tvornici tekstila i uskoro po nagovoru irskog promotora napusti svoju obitelj ne bi li pokazivao svoju iznimnu fizičku snagu na sajmovima diljem zemlje. Njegova djevojka Melina također krene na putovanje dugačko šest mjeseci a koje završi tako da promotor pobjegne sa svim novcima. Njih dvoje nastavljaju putovanje a uskoro se vjenčaju. Louis će ubrzo upoznati Horacea Barrea, snagatora koji postaje njegov najvjerniji prijatelj te Gustavea Lamberta agenta koji mu pomogne nastaviti karijeru u Montrealu. Louis će postati senzacija u svom kraju. Njegov cilj je postati najsnažnijim čovjekom na svijetu.
