Povzetek:

Film je snimljen na osnovu autobiografskog romana Melanije Vanage "Na obalama reke Vel". Ovo ostvarenje je brutalno realističan i zastrašujući prikaz masovne deportacije stanovnika Letonije koja se dogodila u junu 1941. godine.

Zajedno sa više od 15.000 Letonaca, Melanija i njen sin su deportovani u Sibir. U borbi protiv hladnoće, gladi i okrutnosti pomažu joj jedino pisma koja piše svom suprugu Aleksandru o čijoj sudbini ništa ne zna.
