Nakon smrti oca, 11-ogodišnja Momo pati. Sa majkom se seli iz Tokija na udaljeno japansko ostrvo.
Kad stignu tamo, ona počinje da istražuje svoj novi dom, upoznaje lokalnu decu i njihove navike i običaje. Međutim, vrlo brzo počinju
da se dešavaju bizarne stvari na tom do tada mirnom ostrvu. Voćnjaci su ispreturani, vredne sitnice nestaju, a što je najgore, svako jutro
nakon što majka ode na posao, Momo čuje neobično mrmljanje sa tavana.
Frustrirana zvukovima i činjenicom da joj majka ne veruje, Momo kreće u čudnu i natprirodnu avanturu kako bi otkrila izvor nestašluka.
Otkriva da su to tri đavolka (Kawa, Mame i Iwa) i da je njen dolazak na ostrvo povezan sa očevim tajanstvenim nedovršenim pismom.
