Zloglasni odpadnik Harland Rust iz zapora reši svojega odtujenega vnuka Lucasa, ki je bil zaradi nenamernega umora obsojen na smrt z obešanjem. Ubežati morata legendarnemu šerifu Woodu Helmu in lovcu na glave Fentonu "Preacherju" Langu, ki sta jima na sledi.
