The Long Voyage Home (1940)

Drama. Jedan od najpoznatijih Fordovih predratnih filmova ekranizacija je četiri jednočinke američkog dramatičara Eugena O'Neilla, a govori o životu mornara. Film nema čvrste priče, već se nižu situacije s istim likovima, mornarima koji život provode na brodu, u lukama, sanjajući o tome kako će jednoga dana prekinuti s takvim životom. No, kada im se ta prilika ukaže, svi se ponovno ukrcavaju na novi brod.
To je, nakon "Poštanske kočije", drugi film na kojemu su zajedno radili John Wayne i John Ford, a sam Wayne smatrao je ulogu mladog švedskog mornara jednom od najboljih u svojoj karijeri. "Dugo putovanje kući" nominirano je za šest Oscara 1941. među ostalima za scenarij i specijalne efekte.
