Povzetek:

Džon Čendler je vojni veteran iz Građanskog rata. Živi u malom gradu sa sinom koji je usled šoka doživljenog za vreme rata ostao nem i od tada ni reč nije progovorio. Džon luta svuda u potrazi za doktorom koji bi mogao da pomogne njegovom sinu. Usput, on radi na farmi lepe Linet Mur da bi joj pomogao da otplati dug bogatom lokalnom stočaru.
