Povzetek:

Med hladno vojno se ruska podmornica preveč približa ameriški obali in nasede, ker si želi kapitan (Theodore Bikel) bolje ogledati Ameriko. Skupino devetih ljudi, pod vodstvom poročnika Yurija Rozanova (Alan Arkin), pošlje v iskalno akcijo za čolnom, ki bi jih odvlekel od obale.
