Obiteljski western o skupini pionira koji na putu u Obećanu zemlju moraju proći teritorijem naseljenim neprijateljskim indijanskim plemenima.
James Stephen vodi karavanu doseljenika, među kojima su i njegovi žena i dijete, kroz nepregledne američke ravnice. Među putnicima se ističe Doc Grayson, koji nije zbilja doktor, no pruža medicinsku skrb putnicima. Karavana naiđe na Indijance Pawnee koji im žele oduzeti konje.
