Alma, mati samohranilka, se koplje v težavah, tako finančnih kot zasebnih. Živi s svojo hčerko Rose in obe delata v slabo plačanih službah, samo da bi preživele. Nato ju Almin novi fant Derek povabi na 10-dnevno jadranje. Rose je glede njega od začetka sumničava, počasi pa pride na dan Derekova shrljiva preteklost in Rose bo na preizkušnji življenja in smrti.
