Povzetek:
James Furlong, motherless, discovered an extraordinary gift by accident which caused the death of his father and his grandmother. Shocked by the mysterious power he has discovered, James isolates himself in a forest to avoid hurting his family and decides to live there. A few years later, a girl named Mae takes refuge in the same forest because of an incurable disease. The two young people meet and fall in love. James Furlong je odrastao bez majke, a dar (ili prokletstvo) koje posjeduje
je otkrio u nesreći koju je prouzročio, a koja je rezultirala smrću njegovog
oca i bake. Šokiran moći koju ima, a kojom je naškodio nebrojenoj djeci u
sirotištu, on bježi u šumu jer ne želi više nikoga povrijediti.
Nekoliko godina poslije djevojka Mae pronazali utočište u istoj šumi,
nakon što je pobjegla iz bolnice gdje je saznala da je smrtno bolesna.
Dvoje mladih se ubrzo upozna i zaljube se. Ona će pomoći Jamesu da otkrije
