Vicenza, 1956. Lepa Anna, advokatova supruga, oseća se napuštenom od svog supruga Giacomoa. Žive sa njegovom bolesnom majkom i ona joj se ne sviđa. Ona jako želi da ima dete, ali je neplodna.
