Povzetek:

5. avgusta 1952 policija v Provansi odkrije trojni umor britanskih turistov, ki pretrese Francijo. Po dolgih 15 mesecih preiskav aretirajo 75-letnega domačina Gastona Dominicija (Jean Gabin), ki so ga oblastem ovadili svojci. Med policijskim zaslišanjem starec prizna krivdo in vse kaže, da mu gotovo sledi obsodba ter smrtna kazen. Vendar se med sojenjem zgodi preobrat: v luči pomanjkljivih dokazov Dominci prekliče priznanje in spet zanika vpletenost v brutalni zločin.
