Povzetek:
Moža prijahata v mesto na Zahodu, da bi ulovila zmešanega morilca India (Gian Maria Volonté), ki je pobegnil iz zapora. Eden od njiju je "mož brez imena" (Clint Eastwood), hladnokrven, nevaren in hitropotezen lovec na glave, ki ga zanima le denar. Drugi je polkovnik Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef), ki se Indiu želi maščevati za umor svoje sestre.
Lovca se komajda poznata, še manj pa si zaupata. A dogovorita se, da se bo "mož" infiltriral v Indievo tolpo. Načrt je, da bo Indieve može pripeljal v past z bančnim ropom, Mortimer pa bo v zasedi čakal na India. Toda Indio jima prekriža načrte in oropa banko, preden Mortimer to opazi. Slednji zato posumi, da je bil prevaran.
Tudi Indio postane sumničav. V težkem boju zajame Mortimerja in "moža". Pripeljeta ga do skladišča orožja in streliva, Indio pa nadnju pošlje svojo tolpo, da ju ubije. V divjem revolveraškem boju lovca ubijeta vse zlikovce, razen India. Indio je prepuščen na milost in nemilost Mortimerju, "mož" pa pobere svojo denarno nagrado in odjaha v sončni zahod.
