Povzetek:

Vrijeme je Španjolskog građanskog rata. Mladi katolički svećenik Arturo Carrera napušta Crkvu razočaran njezinom ravnodušnošću prema siromašnima, upravo na dan kada u gradu izbija nasilna pobuna protiv svećenstva. Bježeći pred republikanskim vojnicima, pronalazi utočište kod privlačne barske zabavljačice Soledad, koja ga skriva u svom stanu. Dok se među njima razvija duboka i zabranjena ljubav, situacija se dramatično komplicira kada Arturo biva uvučen u potragu za nestalom crkvenom relikvijom, za koju obje zaraćene strane vjeruju da donosi pobjedu u ratu.
