Povzetek:

Amy Blue je zoprna, s hitro vožnjo obsedena najstnica, njen fant Jordan White pa len, ne posebej iznajdljiv nastopač, ki zavrača spolne stike z njo, ker se boji aidsa (čeprav oba zatrjujeta, da sta še nedolžna). Nekega dne naletita na mladega potepuha z imenom Xavier Red; očarljivega in skrivnostnega brezdomca, ki ima to grdo navado, da po obcestnih prodajalnah pobija ljudi. Pridruži se jima na neskončni poti čez vso državo in Xavier - oziroma "X", kakor ga vztrajno kliče Jordan - se izkaže kot grozljiv in odvraten, obenem pa nenavadno privlačen družabnik, čigar navzočnost bo pri njiju sprožila vprašanje o zvestobi in spolni identiteti.
