Povzetek:
Američki horor film snimljen u režiji Paula Wendkosa i premijerno prikazan 1971. godine. Predstavlja adaptaciju istoimenog romana Freda Mustarda Stewarta. Protagonistica, čiji lik tumači Jacqueline Bisset), je supruga muzičkog novinara (čiji lik tumači Alan Alda) koji vodi intervju sa virtuoznim pijanistom (čiji lik tumači Curd Jürgens) koji umire od leukemije i živi sa kćeri (čiji lik tumači Barbara Parkins). Radnja prikazuje kako nakon pijanistove smrti novinar počinje sa uspjehom svirati klavir i postepeno mijenjati svoj karakter, a što, kao i otkriće da je pokojni virtuoz bio satanist i vršio okultne rituale suprugu navodi na zastrašujući zaključak.
The Mephisto Waltz je predstavljao jedino filmsko ostvarenje u producentskoj karijeri Quinna Martina, inače poznatog po nizu uspješnih TV-serija. Film je dobio dobre pohvale zbog jezovite atmosfere i dobre glume (sa izuzetkom Alana Alde), ali mu se zamjerala prevelika sličnost sa nedavnom Rosemarynom bebom. [wiki]
