Povzetek:
Tony Arzenta (Alain Delon) ni običajen morilec po naročilu, temveč eden najbolj cenjenih mafijskih poklicnih morilcev; spoštujejo ga zaradi spretnosti, poguma in neomajne zvestobe. A nekega dne se Tony odloči, da ima vsega dovolj: rad bi začel novo življenje ter preživel več časa z ljubljeno ženo in sinom. Vendar ga mafijski šefi nimajo namena spustiti iz rok, saj preveč ve in predstavlja grožnjo za zaupnost zločinske organizacije. Iz svoje službe ga bodo odpustili samo na en način: v krsti.
