Povzetek:
Premda živi u sretnom braku s uspješnim i imućnim psihijatrom dr. Williamom Suttonom (Richard Conte), lijepa Ann (Gene Tierney) doživljava neugodnosti jer pati od kleptomanije. Nakon što ju uhvate u dućanu u kojem je ukrala broš, u njezinu obranu stane samozvani psiholog David Korvo (José Ferrer) uspjevši nagovoriti poslovođe da odustanu od tužbe. Iz zahvalnosti Ann prihvati redovito dolaziti na njegove seanse kako bi se oslobodila svoje neuroze. Međutim, Korvov je plan hipnotizirati Ann, te je poslati u kuću svoje bivše ljubavnice koju je okrao i ubio ne bi li je spriječio da ga prijavi policiji.
