Hagane no renkinjutsushi (2003)

The Elric brothers' mother is dead and their father has long since abandoned them. Deciding to perform a forbidden human transmutation to bring their mother back, they end up losing their bodies. Now Edward must join the military in order to gain certain alchemical privileges, with his one goal being to restore his brother to his original state. But with war on the horizon it's only a matter of time before they are both forced to question their morals and ultimately decide the value of human life.

U ovom svetu postoje ljudi koji imaju specijalne sposobnosti da manipulišu objektima i da transformišu objekte iz jedne forme u drugu. Oni se zovu alhemičari. Proces transformacije ima svoju cenu – osnovni zakon alhemije kaže da, da bi se dobilo nešto, mora se žrtvovati nešto jednake vrednosti.

Glavni lik je poznati alhemičar Edvard Elrik, poznat i kao Fulmetal alhemičar, koji je u jednoj nesreći skoro izgubio svog mlađeg brata, Alfonsa. Edvard je uspeo da zadrži dušu svog brata u velikom oklopu, međutim, sam je morao da plati cenu za ovo spasavanje – izgubio je ruku i nogu.

Braća polaze na put da pronađu Kamen mudrosti, za koji se priča da umnogome povećava moći alhemičara, kako bi povratili ono što su izgubili.
