Povzetek:

Zvezdniški par Roy Scheider in Meryl Streep sta soigralca v napetem, s Hitchcockovimi zgodbami navdihnjenem kriminalnem trilerju, ki se odvija v svetu newyorških bogatašev in prekupčevalcev z umetninami za visoko družbo. Nepričakovano surovo umorijo Georgea Bynuma, oženjenega kuratorja muzeja in bolnika psihiatra z Manhattna dr. Sama Ricea (Schneider). Slednjega kmalu obišče sodelavka in skrivna ljubimka pokojnika Brooke Reynolds (Streep), potem pa še policijski detektiv Vitucci, ki preiskuje zločinski primer. Dr. Rice vnovič pregleda zapiske s svojih seans z umorjenim Bynumom in se loti lastne preiskave. Istočasno ga tudi nenavadno pritegne skrivnostna, hladna in osamljena blondinka Brooke, čeprav je njeno vedenje vse bolj sumljivo. Bliže ko je Rice resnici, bolj je tudi njegovo lastno življenje v nevarnosti.
